The title says it all. We finally getting around to discussing Trump’s firing of James Comey and the fallout which continues to unfold to this day. Other than a brief aside about FOX News’ corporate culture that’s the focus for today so I hope you’re not sick of hearing about it yet.

Post-Apocalyptic Healthcare
The Trump Train keeps on rolling bringing us a new healthcare bill that is somehow even worse than the last one. On top of that there’s the growing threat of North Korea. I would promise that we won’t be talking about Trump next time, but shortly after recording this, James Comey was fired. So now you have that to look forward to.
The End and The Beginning
We begin with one of our patented Trumpdates and speculate on his apparent warmongering and finish with a brief discussion of the earliest stages of human societal development. Fun stuff!
A few notes:
At the 18 minute mark Tristan fails to recall the third way Russia influenced the election despite the fact that he mentioned it at the start of the podcast: Russian officials directly interacting with the Trump campaign.
Nixon was in office about five and a half years.
German elections will be held on September 24th this year.
One Month In
In this episode we mainly discuss the big orange elephant in the room. There’s also some brief asides about cancer, modern sexual norms, Canadian politics, and the nature of existence.
Clarifications/Corrections:
Ben Carson was director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins
Keith Ellison is the name of the Minnesota congressman who predicted Trump would win the Republican nomination during an appearance on This Week on ABC in July of 2015.
At around the 25:20 mark, Tristan mistakenly says Trudeau introduced austerity measures when it was actually Harper’s solution.
It was the Jonestown Massacre where followers of Jim Jones of the Peoples Temple committed suicide/were murdered by drinking poisoned Kool-Aid in Belize. Heaven’s Gate is a completely different insane cult.
The VAG is Tight
We did a very special away episode wherein we took our new recorder to the Vancouver Art Gallery and admired some fine art. It was a bit of an experiment to say the least, and sometimes the audio is not ideal, but oh well. I’ve included pictures of some of the art we discuss below.
New Year, New Gear
We got some new recording equipment to start off the new year. The intro is a bit choppy unfortunately, but it should be fine going forward. In this episode Tristan takes a turn to rant about his personal life before moving on to some more serious issues such as the legacy of Fidel Castro and the culture that led to Trump’s incoming presidency.
American Electsplosion
Apologies for the tardiness of this episode, but due to technical difficulties, the original version of our election coverage special was unusable. Hopefully this satisfies your needs.
Command and Control
In this episode we discuss a documentary about nuclear weapons we saw at the Vancouver International Film Festival in a addition to a brief Trumpdate. We also debate what stands in the way between humanity and a colony on Mars (hint: Mohammad has something of a one track mind).
Games Are a Riot
In this episode to kick-off the new school year, Tristan talks about his summer vacation at a video game convention and also a riot he witnessed after a sporting loss. The two subjects are not related. On a completely unrelated note, Mohammad wishes he had a vagina.
Here’s my written account of the aforementioned riot:

The Book of Mormon Special
In this very special episode of A Difference of Squares, Tristan attempts to expand Mohammad’s horizons by taking him to see a critically acclaimed musical. Will he be won over, or will it be “too gay” for him?
Warming Up
In this episode we mainly talk about global warming with a dash of gun control before closing with the Olympics. Amazingly, politics doesn’t come up!
The Stage
In this episode we discuss the ongoing American political conventions before moving on to the more fruitful pastures of science and entertainment. Mohammad has some moments of introspection.
